About the Author

William „Bill“ Brown is an Iraq War veteran, former Navy SEAL, and Partner at Parlatore Law Group, LLP. He served eight years in the United States Navy, completing three deployments, including one tour in Iraq. Bill grew up in Southern New Jersey and followed in his father’s and grandfathers‘ footsteps by joining the military. On October 14, 2004, while serving as a first responder in Iraq, Bill raced to intercept a suicide bomber during twin attacks in Baghdad’s Green Zone an experience that continues to drive his commitment to service.

After his honorable discharge, Bill utilized the Montgomery GI Bill to earn his undergraduate degree and law degree from Rutgers University, graduating from Burlington County College with an associate degree in Criminal Justice (Summa Cum Laude) along the way. He is featured in David Goggins‘ bestselling books “Can’t Hurt Me” and “Never Finished”, and serves as President of the Veteran Alumni of Rutgers University.

Bill is the Founder and Lead SEAL of the NYC SEAL Swim, an annual open-water endurance swim across the Hudson River that brings together Navy SEALs, veterans, first responders, and supporters to honor America’s fallen heroes. What began in 2019 with 33 Navy SEAL veterans has grown to over 300 swimmers and has raised millions of dollars for Gold Star families and the Navy SEAL community.

Over the course of several years, Bill, together with fellow participants, photographers, volunteers, and supporters, carefully collected thousands of authentic photographs, personal stories, historical records, and video materials documenting the evolution of the NYC SEAL Swim. This extensive archive became the foundation for The New York City SEAL Swim – Adventure Therapy, a commemorative Story Photo Book created in collaboration with Modesty Publishing. Through this premium archival publication, Bill sought to preserve not only the history of the event, but also the stories, sacrifices, and enduring spirit of the Navy SEAL community, Gold Star Families, veterans, first responders, and all those who have contributed to this remarkable mission.

The 2026 NYC SEAL Swim is scheduled for August 15th, benefiting Beyond the Brotherhood, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing Navy SEALs of exceptional character into their next mission through leadership development and strategic placement.

Bill also led Operation Full Court Press, a historic movement in support of Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense — the first time SEALs and veterans came out in large numbers to the nation’s Capitol to support a cabinet nominee. He is a passionate advocate for veterans‘ rights and has been an activist to end veteran homelessness.

At Parlatore Law Group, Bill focuses his practice on representing American Warfighters, commercial litigation, corporate law, creditor’s rights, and civil and criminal defense. He has successfully represented fellow Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and other American Warfighters. Bill believes no one looks out for veterans better than other veterans.
